Governor Nathan Deal marked the 10th anniversary of a state program that helps Georgia families save for college.

At the state capitol, he presented a check for $55-hundred dollars to eight-month-old Emma Hayward of Atlanta.

The infant’s Mom, Carolina Hayward, won the Path 2 College Newborn Sweepstakes:

“It’s a lot of money in this economy, and especially her being so young, by the time she goes to college, this is going to be a great start. Our dream is for her to go to a top school and this means that we are going to be able to provide that for her.”

The Path 2 College program allows families to make monthly online contributions to an account to cover tuition, books, room and board.

The College Board estimates a four-year public college education will double by 2021 – to more than $130,000 dollars.
