The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in partnership with Ebenezer Baptist Church is pleased to announce the return of the much-loved King Celebration concert. This production highlights both the musicians of the ASO and the Church. Members of the ASO’s lauded chorus and the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir were joined by Jazz singer, Gregory Porter, performing his compositions, “1960 What?”. Selections also included songs from the classical tradition and contemporary Black composers from Atlanta like Carlos Simon and Joel Thompson, gospel music, by composers such as Thomas A. Dorsey and Kurt Carr, as well as jazz and other repertoire reflective of the Ebenezer worship experience. The program was conducted by Jonathan Taylor Rush. GPB was proud to be the production partner for the event.
Governor Brian P. Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, and their daughters will welcome Georgians to the State Capitol to ring in the 2024 holiday season with the annual lighting of the Georgia State Capitol Christmas Tree. The ceremony will highlight the importance of this season and the generosity that flows from it. Governor Kemp and guests will deliver remarks and there will be a special musical performance. The Governor and First Lady will conclude the ceremony with the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree under the gold dome.
Governor Kemp, First Lady Kemp, and their three daughters will be joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus and the 116th Army Band to formally light the Governor’s Mansion Christmas tree.
The Georgia Council on Literacy partnered with Georgia Reads Coach Malcolm Mitchell, the Share the Magic Foundation, and GPB for a Georgia Reads Day "Reading Rally" on September 30, 2024 at the College Football Hall of Fame. Malcolm Mitchell, former UGA football star and Superbowl champion, led the rally to engage thousands of students across Georgia in reading activities. You can watch the entire program below.
