Practices Domain

The purpose of the Practices domain is for students to engage routinely in four literacy practices that ground, shape, and inform the expectations of the Foundations, Language, and Texts domains.

This bundle of resources is grounded in the Practices video panel discussions found below and is designed to serve two key audiences: K-12 classroom teachers and the leaders of district professional learning. The panel discussions themselves specifically target classroom teachers, and district leaders may find them useful when they design professional learning experiences. In addition to the videos, you will find a Practices At-a-Glance document that provides a brief overview of the domain, progression of the big ideas, and links to additional resources. When used alongside the Practices panel discussions, this resource supports a better understanding of this domain's key components.

This panel video about the Practices Domain was recorded by Georgia teachers for Georgia teachers to help explain the new standards. The teachers in the video worked on statewide committees to develop the new standards and provide insights as to why certain decisions were made and how teachers can transition to using the new standards during instruction.
