Language Domain

The purpose of the Language domain is for students to learn and apply the structures and conventions of standard English. Students observe and analyze how grammar works in reading and writing. Students build vocabularies and determine word meanings as they relate to reading and writing.

This bundle of resources is grounded in the Language video panel discussions found below and is designed to serve two key audiences: K-12 classroom teachers and the leaders of district professional learning. The panel discussions themselves specifically target classroom teachers, and district leaders may find them useful when they design professional learning experiences. This panel video about the Language Domain was recorded by Georgia teachers for Georgia teachers to help explain the new standards. The teachers in the video worked on statewide committees to develop the new standards and provide insights as to why certain decisions were made and how teachers can transition to using the new standards during instruction.
