Rain Adams (age 12, Colorado) talks about her passion for healthy eating and how it inspired her to create her Healthy Lunchtime Challenge winning recipe for Rain’s Turkey Chili, in this video from WGBH. Rain, who as a nine-year-old started her own vegan pet treat company, learned to cook from her mother. She says it’s fun for kids to get in the kitchen and make healthy foods. During the White House Kids’ "State Dinner,” Michelle Obama challenged Rain and the other winners to promote healthy eating. Rain’s advocacy has extended to appearances on the TV news, hosting her own YouTube channel, and contributing to her family’s blog, Building a Healthy Family.

Sports Fitness

In this Kindergarten through 5th grade Kids in Motion video, students learn about fitness and sports. Students follow along with their teacher to perform exercises that can be found in all different sports. Using the entire body to target all muscle groups, students get fit acting out commonly known sports such as basketball, tennis, and swimming. This lesson focuses largely on the use of psychomotor skills.

Skills: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
