Rock 'n' roll from Atlanta, Last Chance Riders bring a mix of gritty guitar work and Southern soul to Peach Jam. Once on the cusp of a full-time career before COVID hit, they're now making their way back to life on the road.
On the latest episode of Peach Jam, we've got Atlanta-based rockers Last Chance Riders, a five-piece band that blends soul, grit, and a love for original music into pure, unfiltered rock and roll.
The band's got Jessie Albright on vocals, DeWitt Thompson and John Woods on guitar, Jim Martin on bass and Russell Fitzpatrick on drums. The five members joined Jeremy in the GPB studios for a candid conversation that hits every note, from the thrill of live shows to the heartbreak of dreams paused by the pandemic.
Formed in 2018, Last Chance Riders were riding a high with dozens of tour stops, a growing fanbase, and even a planned tour through Eastern Europe. Then came COVID-19. Like many artists, they were forced to slam on the brakes.
"It’s like climbing Everest," one band member noted. "When you have to turn back, you don’t start again halfway up—you go back to the bottom."
But what makes this band special is their refusal to give up.
With powerful songwriting from DeWitt and Jessie, a deep bond formed through years of collaboration, and the fresh energy of new drummer Russ, they’ve found their second wind—and they’re running with it.
Their story isn’t just about music, it’s about resilience, creativity, and holding tight to your passion even when the world hits pause.
They’ve come a long way since those dark, uncertain days of lockdown. Their latest music reflects that journey, and so does the renewed energy they bring to every show. Their goal now? Keep playing. Keep writing. Keep going. It’s as simple and as hard as that.
You can hear their story and live performance now on this episode of Peach Jam Podcast, available on GPB's YouTube channel, or wherever you get your podcasts.
