Despite being the No. 3 seed out of Region 1-AAAAA and having to travel for the first game of the playoffs, it is safe to say that most expect Colquitt County to roll No. 2 seed Jenkins tonight in Savannah. But don’t be surprised if Jenkins keeps this one close. The Warriors are allowing just 10.2 points per game and, outside of the Camden Co. game when they gave up 31 to the state’s top-ranked team, Jenkins has not given up more than 20 points in any single game this year. … Meanwhile, Rush Propst’s Packers have scored at least 27 points in each game since a season-opening defeat by Cook in which they were held to nine. Colquitt County will pass the ball frequently, as quarterback Tyler Brown threw for 2,308 yards and 17 touchdowns in the regular season. When Brown isn’t chucking the ball all over Savannah, running back Tevin King will be trying to gash the Jenkins defense for big gains. King scored a school-record 25 touchdowns this season on the ground. … Class 4A No. 1 Sandy Creek opens the postseason tonight against Middle Georgia’s Perry. The Panthers will have to play the game of their lives to eliminate the Patriots, who are the reigning state champions and have won 24 consecutive games. However, Perry has a talented trio of running backs who will share the load in tonight’s game. Malikee Bailey, Calvin Howard and Trey King combined to rush for more than 2,000 yards this season. … Woodstock coach Brent Budde made some waves this week when he told William Bretherton of the Cherokee Tribune “Playing Collins Hill on the road is not really a big deal.” They may not be a big deal to the Wolverines, but the Eagles ended the regular season by winning six consecutive games in highly-competitive Region 7-AAAAA. And with Gwinnett teams’ success against Cobb teams in recent playoff history, it will take a major upset for the Wolverines to win tonight.
