Warm Weather Brings Threat Of Severe Storms To Georgia

Georgia can expect more severe weather this week.
There is an elevated risk of storms forecast for Thursday, April 23, including wind, tornadoes and hail, according to the National Weather Service.
Severe weather is possible on Thursday, as Central GA & parts of North GA are currently under an Enhanced Risk (level 3 out of 5) for severe storms. 2020 has already been a busy year for tornadoes with 398 confirmed across the country, making this year on pace for the upper 25th percentile according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
The severe weather will continue to impact the South and become more frequent in the weeks ahead due to the rise in warmer weather, according to AccuWeather meteorologists.

NWS confirmed at least 21 tornadoes touched down across the state during storms on Easter Sunday. Eight people died in the storms.
An EF3 tornado, which can have winds up to 165 mph, touched down in Upson County. The NWS said that tornado destroyed seven homes and dealt major damage to another 20 homes.
