The $23.7 billion spending plan calls for $26 million in lottery funds to build a new compensation model for Georgia's teachers.

It also asks for $4.7 million to create 20 new special agent positions at the GBI and for just over $1 million to hire 11 new adult protective services caseworkers.

The budget also calls for $6.2 million in bonds for what's described as "facility hardening" at state prisons and for $6.8 million in bonds to renovate Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) commuter buses and to build more Park and Ride lots.

From here, the budget goes to the General Assembly. It will be up to them to turn the recommendations into an appropriations bill.
