Betsy's Faves:
Make-End: A Maker Festival For Macon

If you are looking for something different to do this weekend, why not head down to the newly redesign Tattnall Square Park to check out the first ever Make-End Festival, which celebrates people who create original art, craft and technology. There are tons of cool demonstrations, performances and more both days, including two that caught my eye. On Saturday at 4:30 and Sunday at 1:00, there is going to be a performance by Pony Tap, a unique musical concert featuring robotic drummers and formally trained musicians performing industrially-inspired tribal/classical music. Steve Wolf is also talking about the secret science behind movie stunts and special effects at noon on Saturday. Check out their website for the complete event schedule. If you want to take advantage of the great family day pass, please make sure all four people in your party arrive together.

Ragtime

The Tony-Award winning professional Broadway tour of Ragtime is hitting the stage at the historic Grand Opera House with an electric cast of characters, fabulous sets and costumes, and an award-winning book and musical score. Audra McDonald, also known for her television hit Private Practice, made this show famous. Set in the early 20th century, the cast of characters all are seeking the American Dream and are sure to captivate you with their stories. If you go, don’t miss my favorite song “Wheels of a Dream” which is so relevant even today.
