Earlier this week, voters in metro Atlanta's Dekalb County shot down the referendum that would have created the city of LaVista Hills, but some residents say they didn’t get a chance to vote.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp says his office heard six complaints from voters saying the LaVista Hills referendum wasn’t on their ballots.

He says calls to the Dekalb County Election Office revealed that 49 voters might have missed out on the question. The cityhood measure failed by just 136 votes.

Now, Kemp’s office has opened an official investigation into the missing ballot measure, and reports that memory cards used to record votes have also gone missing. The G-B-I and Kennesaw State University’s Center for Elections have been called in to assist.
