Mayors, sales taxes, and new cities are on the ballot, as voters across Georgia head to the polls Tuesday.

In Savannah, three candidates are challenging incumbent Mayor Edna Jackson. All eight seats on the city’s Board of Aldermen are up grabs. Voters on nearby Tybee Island will choose city council members and decide whether city funds should be used for a municipal pool.

Augusta-Richmond County residents will decide whether to keep a one-cent sales tax to pay for $194 million in capital projects.

Voters in the LaVista Hills and Tucker communities of DeKalb County will decide whether to form their own cities. DeKalb residents will also on package of reforms to county government, including more power for the county's ethics board and the hiring of an ethics officers.

Voters in Baldwin County and Milledgeville will decide if they want to merge their governments. If approved, voters would return to the polls March 1 to select five new county commissioners, plus a mayor and vice mayor.

Special elections are being held for three seats in the General Assembly- Senate District 43 (DeKalb, Rockdale, and Newton counties), House District 92 (DeKalb and Rockdale counties) and House District 122 (Columbia and Augusta-Richmond counties).

Polls close at 7 p.m.
