A new road, an old housing community and Miss America are all on the list of hot topics trending in Middle Georgia this week. See the video below for the complete conversation between GPB Macon's Leah Fleming and Telegraph editorial page editor Charles Richardson. Richardson also shares his thoughts after attending this week's Million Father March in Macon.

HOT TOPIC #1:
The Macon Housing Authority has gotten approval from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to begin renovating what the Housing Authority calls one of its most troubled properties. Tindall Heights. HUD’s approval means that the Housing Authority can go ahead and return the 28 acre property crowded with four hundred and twelve units to a greenfield state. The Housing Authority expects HUD help in issuing three hundred and ninety housing vouchers to help Tindall Heights residents relocate. The first blush of redevelopment would be funded through Georgia Low Income Housing Credits expected by the end of the year. The first apartments will be seventy six units set aside as senior housing.

HOT TOPIC #2:
As an 8.4 million dollar road widening project continues on Macon’s Forest Hill Road, fatigue is starting to set in for residents and commuters. The project involves widening a 2-mile stretch of Forest Hill Road, adding a center turn lane to a portion of a road, adding 5-foot-wide sidewalks among other upgrades.

HOT TOPIC #3
Lots of hometown pride for folks in both Macon and Warner Robins over the new Miss America! Betty Cantrall is the new Miss America. She's the second one from Georgia.
