State health officials say they're investigating a possible case of plague.

The person's name hasn't been released, but the Department of Public Health says they are hospitalized and expected to make a full recovery

DPH says the individual may have become infected with the disease while hiking in California.

Health officials there have linked another human case to infected animals in Yosemite National Park.

The disease is carried by wild rodents, such as squirrels and chipmunks. Humans usually get it after coming in contact with fleas that were on the sick animal. Plague is deadly, but can be treated with antibiotics if caught quickly.
