come as you are

Scott West of Savannah Master Calendar and Lauren Cleland of Visit Savannah offer up some ways to have fun in Savannah this weekend.

Scott’s picks:

-Find your next great piece of art at the grand opening of the Uncorked Art Studio and Gallery on Wilmington Island. The party will feature a comedy show, live music and a silent auction. Friday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.; free.

-Try out Savannah’s newest yoga space with the grand opening of Dancing Dogs Yoga’s new studio on Broughton Lane. Check out their yoga specials and enjoy apres-yoga cocktails and live entertainment. Friday, 6-9 p.m.

-Act like a kid again for one night at Coastal Heritage Society’s Un-Gala at the Savannah Children’s Museum. Explore the outdoor museum and play outside games while enjoying food and live entertainment at the adults-only soiree, billed as a FUNdraiser. Friday, 6-10 p.m.; $50.

-If you’re up for a challenge - and willing to get your hands dirty - try the Jail Break Mud Challenge on Saturday. Presented by the sheriff’s office and benefiting Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes, the swampy, four-mile race is peppered with obstacles meant to test physical and mental strength. It’s part of the run up to JCB’s mud fest next weekend, and registration will get you a discount on mud fest entry. Saturday, 8 a.m.; $50 individual or $200 four-runner group.

-Check out some top-notch bowling for a cause on Saturday when AMBUCS celebrates 50 years of AMBUC bowling at AMF bowling centers, featuring all stars and celebrity bowlers. Donations support your favorite team - and the work AMBUCS does to promote mobility and independence for those with disabilities. Saturday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Lauren’s picks:

-Check out the best that local businesses have to offer with the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce’s local business expo at the Hilton DeSoto on Thursday. Meet local business owners and see what products and services they have to offer. Business owners can also meet one another at the event’s networking reception. Thursday, 3-7 p.m., reception 5:30-7 p.m.; free.

-Celebrate the opening of the Jepson Center’s latest exhibition in full 90s style at the Come As You Are opening lecture and reception on Thursday. The exhibit showcases the art of the era with 65 works from artists grappling with the important social issues of the day. Art historian Alexandra Schwartz will deliver the opening-night lecture. Thursday, 6 p.m.; free. Exhibition runs through Sept. 20.

-Whether you’re a die-hard James Bond fan or new to the classic films’ brand of corny charm, be sure to check out Dr. No at the Lucas Theatre. The first movie in the franchise introduces Sean Connery’s take on the suave superspy - and features one of the most iconic entrances, by Ursula Andress. Friday, 8 p.m.; $8 general admission, $5 student/senior/military.
