The countdown is underway for the grand opening of one of Georgia's premier museums. The Tubaman African American Museum in Macon opens in grand fashion next week. Details on that and a cool water event are shared this week by local musician Betsy Fitzgerald. Here is her list:

Tubman Museum Grand Opening and Family Day

We have waited a long time for the highly-anticipated opening of the new Tubman Museum but we don’t have to wait any longer. The museum is opening in grand style with a plethora of activities to celebrate this important arts organization in Central Georgia. Highlights include a ceremonial march/parade leaving the museum’s original location at 340 Walnut Street to its new facility at 310 Cherry Street. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the museum will open its doors from 1-6 pm with guided tours, classes and activities for children as well as music and dance performances. The day’s activities will wrap up with a special concert in Cherry Street Plaza, located just in front of the museum. Featured performers include the classic R&B band The S.O.S. band and Caribbean and World Music by Dean Brown and Dubshak. Dancing will follow with classic 70 and 80’s hits to get your groove on.
