More than a thousand people turned out in Statesboro last night to remember the five Georgia Southern University nursing students killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 16. They were killed Wednesday as they were on their way to clinical rounds at a hospital in Savannah. Fellow nursing student Danell Moore says the five had a passion for helping others. "If you don't have your heart in it, and you don't love it, you don't want to be there," Moore told WSAV-TV. "Because that's what it takes. And every one of these girls, that was their life."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has details on funeral arrangements and other memorials for Emily Clark, Morgan Bass, Abbie Deloach, Caitlyn Baggett, and Catherine Pittman. Two other students injured in the accident remain hospitalized.

Georgia Southern says it will set up a memorial fund at its School of Nursing, in memory of the students.
