Freelance writer and Art Rise Savannah board president Kristopher Monroe and Paprika Southern co-editor Bevin Valentine Jalbert offer up some ways to have fun in Savannah this weekend and all next week.

-Artist Shea Slemmer will exhibit new work in a show at Paris Market on Friday. Sip wine, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and check out Slemmer’s latest pieces. Friday, 6-9 p.m.; free.

-Celebrate the Earth with the City of Savannah’s Earth Day Festival on Saturday in Forsyth Park. Enjoy activities for the whole family as well as workshops on topics ranging from composting to vertical gardening. -Explore Savannah on your bike while taking part in Savannah Bicycle Campaign and Art Rise Savannah’s Instagram scavenger hunt. Tag your photos #recycleartsav for points and raffle tickets. Through Saturday.

-SCAD will celebrate photography next weekend with their annual Silver and Ink Festival, April 23-25. The event will feature a keynote lecture by photography greats Jerry Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor. Saturday, April 25, 4 p.m. Full festival details here.

-Also in conjunction with Earth Day, Art Rise and the Savannah Bicycle Campaign are teaming up for reCycle Art - a mini art and bike festival. It’s a week of fun and free events culminating in the Earth Day Wheelie and Bicycle Parade on Saturday. Full lineup here.

-Check out the best work SCAD illustrators have to offer with the illustration expo Saturday at Haymans Hall. Wares on exhibit - and up for sale - will include everything from prints and bookmarks to illustrated ceramics. Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; free.

-Enjoy an evening of poetry at Seersucker Shots, Saturday at the Book Lady Bookstore. Notable local poets - including Sjohnna McCray, who recently won the prestigious Walt Whitman award - will read their work, along with sutdents from Savannah State’s Estuary Literary Magazine.
