Emory University Offers Course On Ferguson Shooting, Fallout

Emory University in Atlanta will offer a course next fall focused on the impact of the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri.

University officials said in a statement Wednesday the class titled "The Ferguson Movement: Power, Politics and Protest," will be Emory's 2015 university course, described as a "multi-disciplinary exploration of a subject of common concern."

University officials say the course is meant to explore Brown's shooting death and its aftermath in the context of race, politics and power.

Emory law professor and Vice Provost of academic affairs Dorothy Brown helped create the course and says it will explore topics including police tactics, media, voting rights, local politics, tax policy and more.

The course is open to undergraduate, graduate and professional students and registration is open through March 18.
