Guns and ammo

A federal grand jury has indicted a former Atlanta airport baggage handler accused of helping smuggle guns onto passenger jets to New York.

The indictment against Eugene Harvey was filed Wednesday in Atlanta. Harvey worked for Delta Air Lines before he was fired as a result of the investigation.

Prosecutors say Harvey's job gave him access to secure areas of the airport without having to pass through security screening. The indictment says Harvey used that access multiple times to smuggle guns into the airport, where he then passed them to another man who took them onto passenger planes bound for New York.

Harvey was arrested in December and was released on bond. His attorney didn't immediately respond to an email and phone message seeking comment Friday.
