2015 could be the year that a second airport in the Atlanta area offers passenger flights. Officials in Paulding County, about an hour northwest of the city, have been working for several years to lure commercial service to their airports. But the fight isn’t over. Delta Airlines is opposed, saying it would be an economic failure. The City of Atlanta, which owns Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, has said it could take legal action. There’s also local opposition. A new county commission takes office in January, and a majority of those commissioners oppose commercializing the airport. GPB’s Bradley George spoke with Kelly Yamanouchi to get an update on where things stand. She covers aviation for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
