Orion Spacecraft

A Roswell, Georgia elementary school teacher is part of a social media team attending the launch of a spacecraft this week.

Fulton County Schools officials say Kati Searcy will join 149 other followers of the officials NASA Twitter account at the Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday and Thursday. The participants will tour the center's visitor complex and meet with engineers and scientists working on the Orion spacecraft.

The inaugural unmanned flight will test crew safety systems.

Searcy has been a teacher at Mountain Park Elementary School for 25 years. She says the opportunity is an honor for her and the school.

She plans to gather questions from her students and share tweets, videos and blog posts during the experience.
