File of Home Depot

Credit unions are taking the brunt of fiscal problems caused by the data breach at the Cobb County-based Home Depot back in September.

The Credit Union National Association said more than 7.2 million credit union cards were affected. Nearly 135 thousand of those breaches came from Georgia.

Four out of five credit unions across the country will reissue or have reissued cards after the Home Depot breach in September.

To address the problem, credit unions nationally will spend an estimated $60 million.

Georgia credit unions will spend more than $1 million.
