Attorney General Sam Olens.

Georgia's attorney general has appointed a new prosecutor to focus on human trafficking.

Attorney General Sam Olens on Wednesday announced the appointment of Camila Wright. Olens says Wright will have the authority to prosecute human trafficking throughout the state and will assist local authorities on these complex cases.

Olens says Wright will also train law enforcement officers around the state and will oversee the attorney general's policy agenda on human trafficking.

Wright previously established a human trafficking unit within the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. Olens says Wright has extensive experience working with state and federal officials to pursue human traffickers. Olens says Wright was one of the first prosecutors in the state to convict a buyer.

Additionally she secured convictions and guilty pleas for 19 traffickers, including two life sentences.

Olens says Wright's appointment is part of a long fight against human trafficking.
