Grant's Lounge in Macon was once the haunt of the Allman Brothers Band and the Southern rock bands that followed them. After 43 years, the landlord may be shutting the place down.

Ed Grant, Jr., the second generation owner of the club, and his family rent the space rather than own. A recent shooting outside the club in which five were injured seemed to the last straw.

Building owners want the Grant's out but want to license the name and turn it over to new management. So far there haven't been any takers.

Ed Grant, Jr. says he isn't leaving the club without a fight.

October 1 was the date given for the Grant's lease to end. It was also a Wednesday, open mic night. These are images from what may, or may not, have been the last open mic night at Grant's Lounge.

On Grant's Lounge open mic nights, musicians float in and out of the stage light.

One part to the Grant's Lounge Wall of Fame is devoted to folks who maybe weren't rock stars after all.
