Paula Deen’s daughter-in-law is hoping to raise money - and awareness - for her home country of Venezuela through a yoga-themed fundraiser this weekend on Tybee Island.

Claudia Deen is married to the celebrity chef’s son Bobby. She’ll be collecting voluntary donations for aid work in her native land, which has faced nearly two months of violent protests.

Deen says the goal is to bring clean water and light poles to low-income neighborhoods - and send a message of peace.

“There’s always an intention when you’re practicing yoga, so if all of us have the same intention, I feel we can send a powerful message,” Deen says.“With yoga, it’s a very peaceful, quiet, and mindful way to send good energies and good vibes to the people in need.”

Deen is asking participants to wear white. The yoga session starts at 9:30 a.m. on the deck of Huca Poos on Tybee Island.
