The world-renowned jazz ensemble Spyro Gyra is set to perform on First Friday, October 4, at the historic Douglass Theatre as part of the Douglass Theatre Jazz Society season. Music lovers from across the globe have enjoyed their music for the past forty years, with the ensemble selling over 10 million albums. “The Rhinebeck Sessions,” their highly anticipated 30th album, was recently released and includes a collection of mostly up-tempo, often funky pieces that stands toe to toe with the best of this group’s prolific output.

If you are an opera or classical music lover, you will not want to miss the next live telecast of the Metropolitan Opera performing Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin on Sunday. This tale of a fateful romance between the love-struck Tatiana and the imperious Onegin is filled with lush melodies as well as beautiful sets and costumes set in the 19th century. We are lucky that the Central Georgia Opera Guild and the Douglass Theatre partner together to give us the opportunity to experience world-class programs like this without having to leave home.
