Cobb County school officials say a report of a man armed with a knife at Lindley Middle school was a hoax. The school was locked down while officers searched for the alleged suspect.

Cobb County police spokesman Michael Bowman said officers were checking all classrooms and other rooms inside Lindley Middle School to determine "whether there was an actual perpetrator or threat."

Bowman said no one has been injured.

He said the ordeal began when officers were dispatched to the school around 10am regarding a suspicious person who was armed.

The school is on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, about 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.

Lindley is now operating on a regular schedule.
