Vinings librarian Shannon Tyner says apocalyptic stories are really popular with high school students these days. And she says young men and young women are interested in series like THE HUNGER GAMES. She says in order to make sure your children are ready for reading levels to get them to graduate, focus on books that interest them.

Tyner says public libraries have books to interest high school students that may be reading at a lower level. They follow their interests and gradually reach the reading level they need to graduate.

Tyner says if you have trouble interesting your child in classic novels, there are books with the classic text with a modern twist, like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
