University of Georgia officials have named a South Carolina college administrator as its new vice president for student affairs.

Officials announced Tuesday that College of Charleston Executive Vice President for Student Affairs, Victor K. Wilson, will begin in his new role Aug. 1.

Wilson began working for the College of Charleston in 2004 and oversees an office that encompasses nearly 10 divisions — including residence life, public safety, and counseling and substance abuse services.

Officials say Wilson also served as associate vice president for student affairs at UGA between 1999 and 2004.

Wilson earned his bachelor's degree in social work at UGA in 1982 and a master's in student personnel in higher education from UGA in 1987.
