Adairsville in Recovery: Three Months Later

Updated: 1 year ago.

Three months after a tornado hit Bartow County, volunteers are still helping put the city of Adairsville back together.

People from all over the state have reported to Adairsville Church of God to join the volunteer effort.

According to Pastor Ken Coomer, more than 400 homes were damaged or destroyed by the storm on January 30.

“Over half the people in these houses had no homeowner’s insurance, none,” explained Coomer. “You can see they’re not luxurious homes, but they’re home.”

Coomer said the rebuilding movement has been the work of several organizations including his church, Bartow Disaster Recovery, Rebuilding Hope and countless other groups that have provided volunteers.
