A wood pellet manufacturing company is building a $114 million plant on the Wilkinson-Jones County line in Gordon.

Development Authority of Wilkinson County Director Jonathan Jackson announced the development Tuesday.

Representatives of the Atlanta-based Enova Energy Group said they chose the middle Georgia location because of the amount of southern yellow pine trees in the region. Enova manufactures wood pellets that are used instead of coal to power energy-generating turbines by European utilities.

Officials hope to break ground on the plant in May or early June.
