University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby has appointed Georgia Gwinnett College's vice president to serve as interim president.

Officials Friday announced Stanley Preczewski was appointed to fill the role that will be left vacant when current president Daniel Kauffman steps down from his post to serve as president of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce in June.

Preczewski has served in his current position since the school was founded in 2005, and oversaw the college's process for initial regional accreditation by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges.
