The Georgia Board of Regents has approved a new American studies baccalaureate program at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick.

College of Coastal Georgia President Valerie Hepburn said the program — based in the college's school of arts and sciences — is a perfect fit for the area because of its richness in historical and natural resources.

The program is set to offer degrees with concentrations in environmental and regional studies, and cultural studies and communication.
