WORKING: Calling In Sick

Updated: 1 year ago.
This flu season arrived early and dealt a severe blow. When you get sick, health officials tell you to stay home and rest, but that can be hard to do in today’s lean workplaces. Brandon Smith helps us call in sick in the best way possible. (Photo Courtesy of Noel Abejo via stock.xchng.)

This flu season has seen a nasty stew of circulating viruses. Public health officials say flu came early and has hit especially hard.

When you get sick, they encourage you to stay home, rest, and drink plenty of fluids. But calling in sick to work isn’t always so easy.

Our Working guy Brandon Smith is here to talk about the best ways to take care of work while you’re fighting the flu.

Brandon Smith teaches about leadership, communication, and workplace culture at Emory University's Goizueta Business School. More of his advice is on his blog and at theworkplacetherapist.com. While you’re there, ask him your workplace or career question. We might use your question on a future radio segment.
