Georgia's juvenile justice chief has announced the firing of two corrections officers at the agency's juvenile detention facility in Augusta as part of an ongoing internal investigation into the escape of five inmates in October.

Commissioner Avery Niles on Friday announced the firings of Augusta Youth Development Campus Sgt. Dorothy Blair and juvenile corrections Officer Dominique Harris.

Niles has fired four employees from the troubled Augusta Youth Development Campus and suspended the interim director this week alone.

A number for Blair could not be immediately located. When reached by phone, Harris said he had no comment.

Five inmates ranging in age from 15 to 18, escaped from the Augusta facility on Oct. 19, stole a car and led police on a chase before they were recaptured.
