A Florida-based airline is delaying its plan to begin flying travelers between Middle Georgia and Atlanta.
Sun Air International, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., planned to begin flying passengers between the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon and Atlanta beginning Dec. 1.
The Telegraph of Macon reported the airline will not begin service as scheduled. The reasons behind the delay are not yet clear, and a call to Sun Air Wednesday was not answered.
An order from the U.S. Department of Transportation will allow GeorgiaSkies to continue flying passengers between Macon and Atlanta until Dec. 22 or longer.
Sun Air International planned to offer four flights on weekdays and two flights per day on weekends at a one-way rate of $44.
