Governor Deal has announced nine winners of education grants.

They are part of the Obama Administration’s Race to the Top schools program.

$19.4 million will go to partnerships between local school districts, universities, businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The money is aimed at innovative and high-impact programs to produce positive outcomes for students.

The grants include programs aimed at attracting and retaining highly effective teachers and high school leaders.

Other programs will develop classes relating to environmental concerns of Georgia’s coastal region, and a program teaching students to solve real-world problems.
