A Fulton County commissioner has asked county leaders to review their contract with an Atlanta development project after reports that taxpayers paid for such things as alcohol and a wedding gift.

Commissioner Emma Darnell said she's infuriated by reports that taxpayers paid for elaborate staff retreats, stays at pricey hotels and meals at some of Atlanta's finest restaurants.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reviewed expense reports and found that taxpayers covered a nearly $500 bill for kegs of beer and a $2,100 tab for food at Turner Field.

A city audit also raised concerns about spending by employees working on the project.

The BeltLine is a key part of Atlanta's long-term development plan. Its goal is to circle Atlanta with parks, residences and businesses.
