Robins Air Force Base is undergoing a downgrade. The Air Logistics Center also has new leadership and new name.

The Warner Robins Air Logistics Center is now an Air Logistics Complex. The re-designation means Robins leaders will report to the Air Logistic Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Its part of an Air Force plan to save $109-million a year.

Brigadier General Cedric George is the new commander in charge of the nearly 9,000 people that work maintaining aircraft.

“We will and we need to get smaller. We need to turn to the Department of Defense to do that and the United States Air Force. This is one of many initiatives that we are pursuing to ensure that we get real, tangible savings first and then secondly drive more efficiencies.”

George says it is still too early to talk about any specific job cuts that could come as part of the restructuring.
