The Macon Symphony Orchestra is naming a new conductor and music director. Ward Stare will also serve as a distinguished artist and conductor for the Mercer University Orchestra. Stare is currently the resident conductor for the St. Louis Symphony. He is a graduate of Julliard and was appointed at the age of 18 as principal trombonist with the Lyric Opera in Chicago. He also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Macon Symphony formed a partnership with Mercer’s Townsend School of Music during their three year hunt for a new conductor.
