Republican Newt Gingrich will be campaigning across North Georgia and finish the day at the university where he once taught history.

The former Georgia lawmaker appears to hope that Georgia's primary on March 6 could break a losing streak for his campaign. Gingrich represented the state for 20 years in Congress, including two terms as House speaker.

He'll start Tuesday with a rally in Dalton. Afterward, his wife Callista will read from one of her books to students at St. Mary's Catholic School in Rome.

Gingrich is planning a 3 p.m. rally at a Rome airport, followed by a 7 p.m. appearance at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton. Gingrich taught history there before he was elected to Congress in 1978.
