The Georgia Department of Transportation is ready for Monday night's predicted snow.

In northeast mountain counties storm vehicles are already loaded and can be deployed in less than 15 minutes if needed.

The DOT’s Teri Pope says this evening multi lane roads are first priority and:

“Check conditions before you leave where you are. Slow way down on the roadways, I’m talking at most half your normal speed. Use the lower gears on your vehicles to give you a little bit more traction. Be very cautious as you approach bridges because that’s the first place that black ice can form.”

Pope also advises that drivers stay at least a hundred feet back from salt laying trucks to prevent vehicle damage.

Two roads in White and Towns county are already closed and will reopen when temp is well above freezing.

Live weather updates will be available on the DOT’s Facebook page and their usual 5-1-1 number.
