Schools in South Georgia’s Worth County are closed Monday and Tuesday. Officials blame the closing on an outbreak of Shigella. During the closure schools and buses in Worth County will be disinfected. The highly contagious bacterial infection causes intestinal upset. There are four confirmed cases but dozens of others are suspected in Worth and Dougherty counties. Health officials are encouraging people to wash their hands and call the outbreak significant.
