Brookwood turned in dominant performances at the Gwinnett County Championships, hosted last Saturday at Peachtree Ridge. On the boys side, Brookwood placed six runners in the top 10 and compiled an incredibly low score of 26 points, 70 clear of second-place Peachtree Ridge. Morgan Malanoski finished second overall for the victorious Broncos in 15:36, followed closely by third-place teammate Gabriel Gomez in 15:50. Peachtree Ridge star Josh Brickell won the race with a time of 15:30. … The Broncos and Lions also finished first and second, respectively, in the girls competition. Brookwood featured a trio of runners—Caroline Kissel, QuanDra Shanks and Ashley Buda—in the top 10 and six in the top 15. Collins Hill’s Chloe Whitworth took home top individual honors in 18:37. … Milton and Lakeside-Evans battled fiercely in both races at Milton’s Run for the Eagle Cup last Saturday. The Lady Eagles used their depth to hold off Lakeside-Evans 64 points to 70. Annie Kelly paced Milton by finishing fourth overall in 20:35, while Dunwoody’s Alex Cameron finished first with a time of 20:08. Lakeside-Evans’ boys took down the home team 45 points to 60 behind a first-place showing from Sid Vaughn in 17:30. … The Sandy Creek Fall Classic featured a pair of tense varsity races. The Woodward boys scraped past McIntosh by six points and the Whitewater girls edged Landmark Christian by five points. Brad Hort of McIntosh won the boys’ competition in 16:20, just ahead of Woodward freshman Drew Sands and sophomore River Holified. Landmark’s Lindy Long and Whitewater’s Mackenzie Nail finished one-two in the girls race with respective times of 19:30 and 19:34. … This weekend’s most prestigious event is the Atlanta Classic at Douglasville’s Clinton Nature Preserve. Attending teams include Brookwood, Marietta, Marist, St. Pius X, Westminster and Woodward.
