The Peach County School system is reconsidering its four day school week. Four hundred thousand dollars in projected cost savings may not pan out.

Between now and Thanksgiving the Peach County School Board will crunch the numbers, comparing utility savings to losses in state transportation dollars and school lunch funding.

School Board Chair Jamie Johnson says the board is also examining dips in test scores following the most recent CRCT.

“We’re a little disturbed by that. We’re not sure if the actual four day work week contributed to that or not. But we are looking at that very closely.”

Johnson says the board will vote before the end of the school year whether to return to five days of instruction.
