After a three year investigation authorities have dismantled a large cocaine distribution network in Middle Georgia.

The investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Agency, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Macon Police and Bibb County Sheriff’s office.

U.S. Attorney for the Middle District Michael Moore says the Fowler family in Macon had close ties to another gang that calls itself the Black Mafia Family. They bought cocaine in Atlanta and sold it to Macon and Augusta drug dealers.

“Our investigation revealed that the organization was responsible for the distribution of hundreds of kilograms of cocaine into the area with a collected amount of over 8-million dollars. These individuals were essentially wholesalers, so the street value would be much greater.”

Two members of the Fowler family pleaded guilty along with four others. They will be sentenced in October.
