Rome Meets Smog Standards

The federal government says Floyd County, which includes Rome, meets smog standards.

The Environmental Protection Agency commends local officials for working to improve air quality.

Smog is made up of small particles that can get deep into people’s lungs and cause asthma, lung and heart disease, and premature death.

100,000 Georgians live and work in the area. The air standards were set in 1997.
