The University of Georgia is again looking for another bulldog mascot, after UGA VIII died on Friday.

The English Bulldog was a bit shy of 17 months old, but was diagnosed with lymphoma only last month, a common cancer in dogs.

UGA VIII only served a half-season as the school’s mascot, and had to miss the football team’s bowl game in December because of health issues. The bulldog was buried Saturday in Sanford Stadium in a private ceremony.

The school will again have the half-brother of UGA VII, Russ, fill-in as mascot until another permanent replacement is named.
