If local fans of girls prep basketball were hungry last week, surely they enjoyed a few sweet pieces of upside-down cake. In just one week, three local girls teams fell from the top spot in the AJC’s rankings.

In Class 5A, Hillgrove tumbled to 10th after losing three times to other ranked Cobb County rivals: Campbell, McEachern, and North Cobb.

Redan dropped from the top slot in Class 4A to the fourth after losing to undefeated (and now top-dog) Chamblee (58-47).

After losing to Wesleyan, the top-ranked team in 1A, Buford landed in the third spot of the Class 2A rankings. The win helped Wesleyan remain No. 1 in their classification.

Washington County continues to be No.1 in Class 3A.
